Brace for impact, Gears fans—Microsoft has just announced Gears of War: Reloaded, a stunning remaster of the legendary original title that kicked off one of gaming’s most iconic franchises. Launching August 26 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation, and PC, the game will be available at $39.99, but Game Pass subscribers can jump in on day one at no extra charge.
According to Xbox Wire, Gears of War: Reloaded is “a celebration of one of gaming’s most iconic franchises,” and it shows. The remaster brings 4K resolution, 120 FPS support, and seamless cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms. Whether you’re a longtime COG soldier or a rookie stepping into the boots of Marcus Fenix for the first time, this is the ultimate way to experience the original game.
The remaster includes the full breadth of content from Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, including:
- A bonus Campaign act
- All multiplayer maps and modes
- A full roster of classic characters and cosmetics, unlockable through in-game progression
- And yes, all post-launch DLC is included at no extra cost
Players can tackle the gritty campaign in two-player co-op, or gear up for war in 8-player multiplayer mayhem.
In a generous move for loyal fans, Microsoft confirmed that anyone who owned Gears of War: Ultimate Edition prior to May 5 at 12PM ET will receive Reloaded as a free upgrade.
This announcement follows last year’s teaser of a brand-new entry in the series, Gears of War: E-Day, which still awaits a release date.
