In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, shared some intriguing insights regarding Xbox’s potential handheld device. He mentioned that there is an “expectation that we would do something” in terms of handhelds and that the company is presently exploring possibilities through prototype development. However, the immediate focus for the team is on enhancing the Xbox app for current devices. Spencer added, “In the long run, I’m excited about us creating devices. I believe our team could achieve some truly innovative work, but we want to base our efforts on what we learn and what’s currently happening.”

If Xbox is still in the prototype stage, any new handheld hardware is likely years away from becoming available on the market.

According to Windows Central’s Jez Cordon, who claims to have insider knowledge, there might be a possible announcement for an Xbox handheld. I believe that next year could be a promising time for revealing new hardware, especially something compact enough to fit in your hand.”
